Tinbergen Institute

The Tinbergen Institute (TI) is the institute of economic research of the Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam (EUR), the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), and the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). The Institute is founded in 1987 and named after Professor Jan Tinbergen, Dutch Nobel Prize laureate in economics in 1969. Tinbergen Institute consists of the Tinbergen Research Institute and the Tinbergen Graduate School. Some 80 research fellows and approximately 120 Ph.D. students participate in the institute's research programme and Ph.D. programme. The Tinbergen Institute also offers a one-year programme in economics that coincides with the first year of the Ph.D. programme. The one-year programme leads to a Master of Philosophy degree in economics. International researchers visit the Tinbergen Institute to give seminars and workshops, or to meet the research fellows of the institute.

The Tinbergen Institute is located in Amsterdam and Rotterdam. At both locations seminars, conferences and workshops are organised throughout the year.
