Example 3

We helped a European investor in setting up a joint venture bakery in agricultural suburb of Beijing. When we visited the Head of the local government to seek his support, he suggested that the JV would employ at least 125 people. This was about three times as many as needed in the initial stage.

We learned that the main issue on which Beijing municipality would assess the Head’s performance was alleviating the local unemployment situation. So, we agreed to put 125 people on the payroll and as a result, the JV was allocated a prime location.

We helped the local Head look good in the eyes of his superiors and in return he helped us with a good starting position for the Joint Venture.
